How One Royal Astrologer Got It Wrong….

A medieval astrologer who predicted that Henry VIII would have a happy marriage and be a devoted servant to the Catholic church must have been gazing at anything other than the stars.
Italian William Parron’s 1503 forecasts could not have been further from the truth, as the famously unpredictable monarch married six times and broke from Rome in order to re-marry.
Mr Parron, who also produced the first almanac in the English language – it was popular on the continent and he is credited with bringing it to England – made a number of other woefully inaccurate guesses as to what the future would hold for Henry’s father, Henry VII….
